Communications satellite - A communications satellite (sometimes abbreviated to comsat) is an artificial satellite stationed in space for the purposes of telecommunications. Modern communications satellites use geosynchronous orbits, Molniya orbits or low Earth orbits.
Areosynchronous orbit - Areosynchronous orbits are class of synchronous orbits for artificial satellites around the planet Mars. As with all synchronous orbits, an areosynchronous orbit has an orbital period equal in length to Mars' sidereal day.
Argument of periapsis - ... where the orbiting body passes from the southern to the northern hemisphere) and the periapsis (the point of closest approach to the central body), measured in the body's orbital plane and in its direction of motion. It is undefined for equatorial orbits, where there is no defined ascending node, and for circular orbits, where there is no defined periapsis.
Comet - A comet (denoted by ☄) is a small body in the solar system that orbits the sun and (at least occasionally) exhibits a coma (or atmosphere) and/or a tail — both due primarily to the effects of solar radiation upon the comet's nucleus, which itself is a minor planet composed of rock, dust, and ices. Due to their origins in the outer solar system and their propensity to be highly affected by relatively close approaches to the major planets, comets' orbits are constantly evolving.
Lunar Orbiter Program - Overviews of the various Lunar Orbiter missions, with photographs and related links.
Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas of the Moon - Digital edition of Lunar Orbiter Photographic Atlas, 1971, with all 675 plates.
GPS Precise Orbits - Global Positioning System satellite ephemerides ("orbits") information for the general public, from US NOAA. GPS precise orbits are derived using 24 hour data segments from the global GPS network. An informational summary file is provided to document the computation and to convey relevant information about the observed satellites, such as maneuvers or maintenance. Orbits generally are available 2 to 6 days after the observation.
